B jones

Mr. Jones has been in education for 30 years and recently spent his last 3 years at Lakeland Intermediate School. When asked about his favorite Lakeland memory, he stated: β€œWatching our entire student body and staff get excited during a reward session where students did a rock, paper, scissors relay race.  Everyone was engaged, and the atmosphere was awesome!”

We wish Mr. Jones well in his retirement, but we are thankful for his years helping shape Lakeland School Corporation (LSC) into a destination corporation. Mr. Jones believes a couple of current Lakeland successes are: β€œCulture is becoming more collaborative, especially with the incorporation of Conscious Discipline.  PLCs are allowing our entire teaching staff to plan together with a purpose.  We have worked hard as a school to prepare our students and look forward to the IREAD 3 results along with our ILEARN results to see how we compare to the state.  The turnover in staff has decreased in the three years I have been here, and I feel our school is a place where people are happy and want to be!”

In retirement, Jones says he plans to β€œtake time for myself. Education is a place where we give to others all the time. I plan to fish a lot and take up golf.” While we will miss Mr. Jones at LSC, we can’t be mad at those retirement plans!

With his retirement, Lakeland has promoted current Assistant Principal Andrew Barrand to Principal, effective immediately after the 2024-2025 school year. Mr. Jones said: β€œI feel Andrew will be a great instructional leader, and his excitement and passion for learning, along with the LIS educational staff, will continue to help our students move forward!” when discussing the change of hands scheduled to take place.

Laker Nation, please join us in thanking Mr. Brad Jones for being a Laker one final time and wishing him well in his retirement!
