a barrand

Lakeland School Corporation (LSC) has approved the promotion of Assistant Principal Andrew Barrand to Principal, effective immediately following the end of the 2024-2025 school year.

Mr. Barrand serves Lakeland with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Generalist and K-12 mild intervention through Manchester University and a Masters of Educational Leadership through Western Governors University. Mr. Barrand has been with Lakeland for 12 years and most recently served as the Assistant Principal at the Intermediate building for the previous two years.

When Mr. Barrand was asked what current success at Lakeland he wanted to capitalize on, he stated: β€œContinue employing Conscious Discipline to meet the diverse needs of our learners. I want to continue working with students on soft skills through LAKER PRIDE, and  I want to progress student excitement about literacy. This year, we did this through reading challenges and One School, One Book.”

We are lucky to have such a dedicated administrator and are eager about his promotion. When asked what he was most excited about in the upcoming year, Mr. Barrand stated, β€œI'm excited to be a school leader in the district that hired me for my first teaching position. I have great memories and look forward to continuing supporting students, staff, and families in my new role.”

Mr. Barrand’s favorite quote is: β€œ'High achievement takes place in the framework of high expectations.” by Charles Kettering. This quote is another example of how Mr. Barrand's mindset is an incredible asset to Laker Nation!

This promotion follows the retirement of current Principal Brad Jones. As we wish him well, we encourage you to congratulate Mr. Barrand on the promotion when you see him!
