Lakeland School Corporation has been recognized by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) as a “First Team All-Sportsmanship” school for the spring 2025 sports season.

This honor is based on the IHSAA’s sportsmanship scoring system, which considers both positive and negative reports from contest officials. Schools can receive demerits for ejections or unsportsmanlike conduct, while their scores are boosted through Exemplary Behavior Reports submitted by officials following athletic contests.

“While over 300 schools across the state earned this recognition, we’re proud to be among those demonstrating the values of respect, integrity, and teamwork on and off the field,” said Lakeland Athletic Director Ryan Yoder. “Our athletes, coaches, and fans continue to represent Lakeland with class, and this award reflects that ongoing commitment.”

The IHSAA's emphasis on sportsmanship aims to promote not only competitive excellence but also character and mutual respect among athletes and spectators alike. Lakeland’s continued recognition in this area supports the district’s broader goal of building not just successful student-athletes, but responsible and respectful citizens.
