Lakeland High School is proud to announce that Memphis Martin is heading back to the State Championships for the third consecutive year! Memphis’s remarkable consistency and dedication to his sport have made him a standout athlete and a source of pride for the Lakeland community.
Throughout the season, Memphis has demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship, earning his spot at the state level once again. His achievement reflects not only his hard work but also the support of his coaches, teammates, and family.
Coach Thom Taylor commented, “Memphis’s commitment and talent are truly inspiring. Making it to state three years in a row is no small feat, and we couldn’t be prouder of him and his accomplishments.”
The Lakeland School Corporation congratulates Memphis on this incredible milestone and wishes him the best as he competes at state, continuing to make history for himself and Lakeland athletics.
At Monday’s school-wide pep session, Memphis Martin shared about his previous state takeaways: “I learned a lot in my first year—there are a lot of bigger schools—but by my second year, I realized they’re not that much bigger after all.” Memphis went on to share that his favorite post-race meal was Texas Roadhouse, so here's to celebrating with some rolls and, hopefully, a PR at state!
