Kindergarten is a fantastic year of growth for children and their first official school experience, and we would love to have them join us at Lakeland Primary School!
Our vision at Lakeland Primary School is to develop excited learners and curious problem solvers who can apply knowledge to unique situations independently and collaboratively. We work hard to provide reading instruction that is systematic and sequential so that all of our students learn the fundamentals of reading. Our math instruction focuses on ensuring every student understands numbers and numeric concepts. We provide lessons on how to be a good friend, who become the helpers in the community, and many other critical social concepts. Did I mention we also have a lot of fun? Play and laughter are very important parts of our day.
If your child will be 5 years old by August 1, 2026, they are guaranteed a spot in kindergarten. If your child turns 5 between August 2 and October 1, 2026, we are happy to screen them to see if they are eligible for early entry into kindergarten.
We will host a Kindergarten Round-Up on March 30, 31, & April 1 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
This evening is set aside for parents to learn about Lakeland Primary and for the children to go visit and spend time with the teachers in a kindergarten classroom. It is also a time to complete your child’s school registration. You can pre-register and complete that information by using the QR code at the end of this letter.

For Kindergarten Round-Up, bring your child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and a piece of mail to confirm residency with you that evening. Your child will spend time with our fabulous kindergarten teachers to see and explore some of what they will experience in the fall.
On the night of your child’s Kindergarten Round-Up, you will also select a time for their academic screening. Screening will be done on May 19th & May 20th from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Any family member can bring your child back for this appointment. You will sign up for a 30-minute time slot. At the end of the screening, you will receive a report on how your child did! This is a necessary appointment because it helps the LPS staff decide which kindergarten classroom is their best fit.
Kindergarten Kickoff is another opportunity for your child to get accustomed to the significant steps to kindergarten and entering Lakeland Primary School. We invite your child to come to school and stay for a few hours on August 4th & 5th! More information will be given at your child’s screening time.
