Lakeland High School is proud to announce the induction of seven distinguished individuals into the Lakeland Athletic Hall of Fame. This year’s class features a premier group of record-breakers, state-level competitors, and dedicated coaches who have left an indelible mark on Laker history.

"This year's class represents six decades of Laker athletics.  We have a foundational athlete of the 1960s and 1970s, several more recent record-holders, and multiple coaches who set a high bar for student achievement.  These inductees embody the spirit of excellence and class that characterize Lakeland and our community," said Ryan Yoder, Lakeland Athletic Director.

The Inductees:

Ms. Kloee Fitch (Class of 2017) – Track & Field

One of the most decorated throwers in school history, Fitch was a powerhouse in both shot put and discus. A 7-time state finalist and the 2015 State Runner-up in discus, she remains the only Laker to win four consecutive regional titles. She still holds the school records for shot put (42’ 9.5”) and discus (150' 1”).

Mr. Evan Long (Class of 2003) – Basketball, Track & Field

A versatile dual-sport star, Long is the 7th leading scorer in Laker boys’ basketball history with 1,010 career points. A key member of the 2003 Sectional Championship team, he ranks in the top 10 of 13 different statistical categories. On the track, he was a 2003 NECC and Sectional Champion in the 400m dash.

Ms. Linda (Miller) Whetstone & Ms. Sherill (Miller) Habedank – Gymnastics Coaches

Affectionately known as "The Miller Girls," this sister duo led the Lakeland gymnastics program for 25 years. They maintained a standard of excellence, achieving 17 regional qualifiers and over 1,300 youth camp participants. Their leadership brought stability, consistency, and class to the Lakeland gymnastics program, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of student-athletes until they retired from full-time coaching in 2024.

Ms. Krystle (King) Frame (Class of 2005) – Volleyball, Track & Field

The 2005 class valedictorian was equally dominant on the court, graduating as the all-time leader in digs, blocks, and kills (1,136). A 3-time All-Conference selection, she went on to play at Purdue University, appearing in two NCAA Sweet 16s. She now serves the community as a prominent veterinarian.

Mr. Alan Duncan (Class of 1970) – Basketball, Track & Field, Football

A dominant force of the "Laker Legends" era, Duncan remains in the top 10 of 12 statistical categories 55 years after graduation. He famously led the Lakers to a massive upset over state-ranked Fairfield in the 1970 Sectional Final. As a track athlete, he previously held school records in both high jump and pole vault.

Mr. Tim Gonderman – Coach, Athletic Director, Contributor

In a career spanning 32 years at Lakeland, Gonderman’s impact was felt in every corner of the athletic department. He coached the boys' tennis team to its only sectional title in 1996 and served two terms as Athletic Director. Notably, Gonderman established the Lakeland Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017 to ensure the legacies of Laker greats would never be forgotten.
