Lakeland Jr/Sr High School is proud to announce that student Bentley Jasso has been recognized for his exceptional literary talent in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Jasso was awarded a Silver Key for his original poetry, a distinction presented by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, which serves as the regional affiliate for the competition.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens. Jasso’s work was selected from thousands of regional entries, judged on originality, technical proficiency, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
Bentley’s achievement places him among a select group of young artists and writers who have demonstrated excellence in their craft. The Silver Key signifies an achievement that demonstrates high levels of creative potential and ranks in the top tier of regional submissions.
"We are incredibly proud of Bentley’s dedication to his craft," said Brenda Reed, English Teacher at Lakeland Jr/Sr High School. "To be recognized by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art is a testament to his unique perspective and the hard work he puts into his writing. It’s a win not just for Bentley, but for our entire creative community."
