Lakeland School Corporation is proud to announce that two of its standout student-athletes, Alana Whited and Dulce Canedo, have officially committed to compete at the collegiate level. Their dedication to excellence on the field, the court, and in the classroom has earned them spots at two prestigious Indiana institutions.

Alana Whited: Racing Toward the Future at Goshen College

Lakeland distance star Alana Whited has signed her letter of intent to join Goshen College, where she will compete for the Maple Leafs in both Cross Country and Track & Field. Whited has been a foundational member of Lakeland’s running programs, known for her endurance and leadership on the trails. As she transitions to the Crossroads League, she carries with her a reputation for grit and a "team-first" mentality that has inspired her fellow Lakers.

"Alana is the definition of a Lakeland athlete—disciplined, resilient, and always striving for a new personal best," said the Lakeland Athletic Department. "Goshen College is getting a remarkable runner and an even better person."

Dulce Canedo: Taking the Court for the University of St. Francis

On the basketball court, Dulce Canedo has announced her commitment to play for the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne. A dynamic force for the Lakeland Lady Lakers, Canedo’s skill set and high basketball IQ have made her a standout in the region. She joins a Fighting Saints program with a rich winning tradition, bringing with her the competitive edge and defensive prowess that defined her high school career.

"Dulce’s impact on our basketball program cannot be overstated," notedRyan Yoder, Lakeland Athletic Director. "Her move to the University of St. Francis is a testament to the hard work she’s put in every off-season. We are thrilled to see her represent Lakeland at the next level."
