Lakeland High School Names Rebecca Hofer as New Varsity Cheerleading Coach

Posted Date: 07/02/26 (12:54 PM)

Lakeland High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Hofer as the new Varsity Cheerleading Coach, pending official school board approval on July 8. With nearly two decades of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for cheerleading, Hofer brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm to the Laker cheer program.

Hofer's love for the sport began at an early age.  She first participated in cheer and dance in fifth grade, and continued cheering in high school and eventually cheered at IUSB and Trine University.  The extensive experience she gained during her own cheerleading career provided a strong foundation for her transition to coaching.

As a coach, Hofer has spent nearly 19 years leading recreational and competitive cheer programs. During that time, she has guided teams to multiple state championships and four national championships, helping athletes achieve success both on and off the mat.

"I have a passion for this sport and love watching athletes grow," said Hofer. "I am excited to be part of Lakeland and to push Laker student-athletes to be the best they can be."

As she enters her first season with the Lakers, Hofer's two main goals will be to build a supportive team atmosphere and increase the team's stunt execution and safety.

Aside from her coaching resume, a few fun facts about Hofer are that she enjoys traveling to new places, she is a proud mother of four teenage boys, and she needs coffee every day in order to survive.

Lakeland High School welcomes Coach Hofer to Laker Nation and looks forward to the positive impact she will have on the cheerleading program and the broader school community.
