Ben Hartranft Brings a Message of Inclusion and Kindness to Lakeland Intermediate School

Lakeland Intermediate School welcomed motivational speaker and autism advocate Ben Hartranft today for a special presentation focused on the power of inclusion, kindness, and acceptance.

Hartranft, who has appeared on The Ellen Show and The Price Is Right, shared his personal story of living with autism and the people and experiences that have helped shape his life. Through his message, he encourages others to recognize the importance of including others, showing kindness, and understanding that small acts of acceptance can make a lasting difference.

The presentation centered around a powerful message:

“Be the One. One kind person can change the world.”

Hartranft's visit provided Lakeland Intermediate students with an opportunity to hear directly from someone who has experienced the impact of inclusion throughout his life. His story encouraged students to look beyond differences, recognize the strengths of others, and consider how their own choices and actions can make their school and community a more welcoming place.  

Ms. Bates, a third-grade teacher, shared that she believed students gained a great deal from the program. “They were very excited to meet Ben, and he did not disappoint them,” she said. Students were highly engaged and full of energy as they listened to Ben share his story and experiences. The school enjoyed Ben Hartranft’s visit and looks forward to the lasting impact his story and message will have on students, staff, and the Lakeland community as we continue through this school year.
